Six years removed from his last release, DFRNTFRM (like Different Form) is delivering his newest work, Pareidolia. The album’s lead single “Lost Touch” contains a deep, morose vibe supplied by Skitzo Productions where DFRNTFRM touches on the six-year gap and self-examines losing touch with music and his motivations for revitalizing that misplaced relationship. Pareidolia is best defined as the tendency to perceive a specific, often meaningful image in a random or ambiguous visual pattern. In relation to this piece of music, DFRNTFRM sees life as a sequence of events that in the moment may not seem so relevant but as one grows older and reflects you realize how some of these moments mold who we become. Furthermore, there is opportunity to learn and find meaning within every life event. This is all simply summed up on the chorus of “Pareidolia”, the title track, where DFRNTFRM says “There’s meaning in everything, shapes in randomness, pareidolia.” The album features guest verses from Moemaw Naedon and Reasun. Production from Skitzo Productions, The Latebloomer, FTdub, Moemaw Naedon, and DFRNTFRM himself as well as cuts by DJ Blacklisted. Pareidolia will be available on CD and digitally Friday, March 13th, 2020. Both versions can be pre-ordered at dfrntfrm.bandcamp.com beginning Tuesday, February 4th, 2020.
